Buffalo

Medium: Steel Plate
Dimensions: 6.5'h x 10.5'w x 3'd (approx)
Created: 2004

This "iron bison" sculpture and other recent sculptures are all constructed out of quarter inch or thicker steel.  He is designed to run uphill.

Mild steel may not have the snob appeal that some other materials have, but it is material of high moral character -- companionable, easy to get along with, lasting, faithful.  Steel is more compatible with certain techniques than some materials and less with other techniques.  Try to imagine the effectiveness of these pieces done in any other medium.  Likewise, try to imagine the sculptures of marble, bronze, stone, wood plastic, ice, butter, etc. done in steel.  To each his own.
