This sculpture was inspired by the beauty of Margot Fonteyn. Born in England as Margaret Hookham in 1919, Margot Fonteyn, as she was known on stage, was one of the most accomplished ballet dancers of the twentieth century. She was recognized as Prima ballerina assoluta (absolute first ballerina) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1979.
