This scene is based on e.e. cummings' poem Chanson Innocente about "bettyandisbel" and "eddieandbill" in "Just spring." [The lack of capitalization and spacing are cummings, not mine.] However, in cummings' poem, Pan is a "lame balloonman." Here he is a music maker:
